MeMe's Mini Market

Hello! My name is MeMe, and I am a teen entrepreneur. I own MeMe's Mini Market.

It all started as a 4H Project in Entrepreneurship. I began with an onion farm in 2021, where I grew and sold thousands of onions to restaurants and grocery stores. That year, I also wanted to learn more about retail by opening a little stand down at the end of my road.

At first, I only offered my onions and other produce that I grew, but before long, I realized that my business would profit if I developed partnerships with other farms to sell their produce at my stand as well.

In 2022, I decided to expand to a roving vegetable stand.  Something that I noticed is that working adults sometimes have a hard time getting to the local farmers market because it is only open on certain days at certain times. So, I decided that I could meet that need by setting up my stand at businesses that employ numerous workers and where individuals of the public already frequent. That way, people can buy fresh produce when they get off work or run other errands.

I partnered with Garrett Growers Co-op so that I could obtain some of the best produce Garrett County has to offer from farms throughout Garrett County.

My first stand started at the Garrett County Health Department, and I opened another one at Garrett Regional Medical Center.

After starting my stand at the Health Department, Garrett Growers and the Health Department contracted with me to run their Pop-up Markets at Friendsville and Kitzmiller.

Today, in addition to shopping at my stands, individuals can order produce through email, and purchase other products from my website in advance of the markets, and I will bring them to the market and have them ready for pick-up. This can save individuals even more time.

And, if customers happen to live or work in Mt. Lake or downtown Oakland, I can deliver produce and value-added products for orders over $30.
